High Bridge Trail

Today my training schedule had me running 2 miles again.  It's kind of boring to run at the same place all the time, so I went to the High Bridge Trail by the Rice Post Office thanks to Miss Patti.  It's very peaceful and I didn't have to look out for cars!  It's a dirt path with a little bit of gravel, very easy to run on with lots of privacy.  As it gets warmer, it's going to be nice to have a place I can go and not have to worry about people seeing me out running.  I don't like to run with a shirt on, so now I don't have to and have people judging me!  I was worried about a bear coming on the trail and killing me because I was not setting any records today.

One of the toughest things so far hasn't been the aches and pains of running, but mainly my lungs.  I haven't been able to get my breathing right because of all the pollen in the air I believe.  I don't have this problem when I run inside, so I'm assuming that's the cause.  But I would recommend running at High Bridge because of the seclusion and shade.  I wasn't in the sun long at all because of the trees that line that trail.  It's relatively flat there and I'm assuming it's the same for the majority of the trail.  It's not like when you're running in the middle of town or anything where if you need to walk or sit down and take a break, there's nobody there to judge.  I know I saw plenty of people running when I did deliveries in Chesterfield and wondered if they were going to fall over at some point.

Here's a link to a map of the actual trail.  http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/documents/highbridgetrail.pdf  If you want to plan a run near you.  If you do go, let me know what you think!  Here's a picture of what the trail looks like.
I was actually running when I took this pic!  Thank you iPhone 5 for your great camera and shake resistance!  All the calories I burned while running were quickly put back on at Big-T by the way, so don't expect 6 pack abs from me just yet.  Still gotta work on that diet.  Hope you're having a great day/night/whenever you're reading this!
